PRACTICES TO FREE YOUR MIND AND LIVE HAPPILY.

MEDITATION

Practices for your own benefit and the benefit of all.

Meditation is a useful tool to get to know our own mind. In the meditation courses we learn to be attentive, recognize patterns of  thought and develop mindfulness of feelings, emotions and sensations in the body.

We learn techniques that help us regulate our emotions, moods and pinpoint unhealthy mental states of mind. These practices are supportive to   slow down and live a healthier and happier life.

Which kind of meditation do we practice?

Vipassana meditation (insight meditation).

Why do we meditate?

To get to know our minds. We sit and observe our thoughts and the processes of the mind. When we understand our minds, we know what is supportive and what is not. We want to be happy. Meditation is a helpful tool to learn how to live happily.

In which ways our practices are beneficial for all?

We sit. We practice to be kind, open, generous and joyful. We learn tools to regulate our emotions and be less reactive. Our families, friends and everyone we encounter benefit from our practices.

Yoga

Which kind of yoga do we practice?

We do simple exercises from the hatha yoga tradition (Sivananda-yoga).

The aim of yoga in these classes is to strecht, soften and move the physical body.  Also to relax and release resistance, open up and bring strength and flexibility to the body. The yoga exercises have a positive effect on the mental and emotional level as well.

Mindfulness

We practice to be aware of what is happening in our life. We observe our mind and learn to notice what arises as it does. Mindfulness in the context of these practices means: to know that we are thinking, when we think. It means to practice to be connected with life. We practice to become morein contact to our inner and outer world. We start to be more aware of our patterns and ways of responding to life.

Do I need previous experience to join the classes?

No. Everyone is welcome to join the classes!

How long are the classes?

The classes are 60 to 90 minutes long

ABOUT

JULIETA MANZI

I was born and raised in Argentina. I studied law in Buenos Aires. In Europe, I completed two postgraduate studies.

I worked in the field of human rights for about 12 years.

In 2011 I became a yoga teacher in the Kundalini yoga tradition (Yogi Bhajan). Some years later I met my spiritual teacher James Swartz (shiningworld.com).  I have been practicing yoga and meditation since 2011.

In September 2023 I started a mindfulness teaching training with Christopher Titmuss (insightmeditation.org), a former monk from the Buddhist Thai Forest tradition.

The Dzogchen tradition (non-dual teachings) with James Low as a teacher (simplybeing.co.uk) is an important source of inspiration to me.

The benefits

Meditation has multiple benefits for the mind and for the our general well-being.

Some of the benefits are:

Clarity

Relaxation

Ease

Openness

Joy

Aim of meditation

The ultimative goal of meditation is to be happy and free.

These practices expand our views. We open up to meet whatever arises just as it does.

We do formal practices on the cushion. We  carry out informal practices in daily life.  When our eye are closes and the senses are withdrawn from the world, it is easier to observe the patterns and different moods of the mind.

Every experience give us the opportunity to practice.

Guidance

The teacher offers you guidance and support. Her instructions help you to focus, relax and recognize processes of the mind.  You become aware of physical sensations, emotions and everything else that arises.

The teacher motivates you to continue with the practices. They deepen upon time and perseverance. As a result of the meditation insights and progress takes place.

What is progress?

Less reactivity and moments of calmness, less irritation, moments of wisdom that allow more moments of joy and peace of mind.

The sangha, the particioners

We support and uplift each other through our intention and practices. The space the group creates together is  uplifting and beneficial.  These practices are supportive to reduce individual and collective suffering. Meditation enables the development of mental and emotional stability. At times clarity of mind arises and we build up resilience.

What are the ultimative goals of these practices?

Freedom, Happiness, Joy, Harmony, Peace of Mind

The belief to be incomplete makes us chase objects in order to feel good. This misconception about what we are, keeps us bound and unhappy. Meditation brings clarity to the mind and creates space within.

Who am I? or better said, What am I?

How can I live a fulfilled life?

Is there a purpose in life?

These are questions to be explored our entire life. Life offers us, through every normal and daily experience,  the opportunity to realize the fact that we are already free. Meditation is the invitation to meet each moment just as it is.
